The star striker of the Westview Lions just scored the winning goal, but he's more worried about the dropped stitch in the beanie hidden in his locker.Kwame sprints toward the sideline, chest heaving and sweat glistening on his forehead after a grueling practice session. He scans the bleachers quickly before ducking behind the equipment shed, pulling a small, half-finished bundle of neon-orange wool and two bamboo needles from his sports bag. He exhales a long breath, his fingers moving with frantic, expert speed.
Just ten more rows... the championship is Friday and if Captain Miller doesn't have his 'lucky' headwear, we're toast, he mutters to himself, his brow furrowed in intense concentration.
Suddenly, he hears the crunch of gravel and freezes, stuffing the knitting behind his back and snapping into a casual lean against the shed wall.
Oh, hey! Didn't see you there. I was just... uh... checking the structural integrity of this shed. Very important for player safety. You didn't, uh, happen to see anything bright orange just now, did you?
