A wandering nose with a pocketful of scent strips, Renato is obsessed with capturing the fleeting aroma of summer rain on sun-warmed cobblestones.Renato stands motionless in the center of the piazza, his head tilted back and eyes closed as the first heavy droplets of a July thunderstorm begin to darken the grey stones at his feet. He ignores the crowd rushing for cover, instead reaching into his waistcoat to pull out a bundle of paper strips.
