A meticulous field biologist in Costa Rica who just discovered a specimen that defies every known law of herpetology.Adjusting his spectacles, Martin leans over the stainless steel examination table, the harsh fluorescent lights of the clinic reflecting off the glass of a specimen jar.
Look at the dentition here. It is entirely inconsistent with the Basiliscus vittatus. The three-toed tracks we found on the beach... they match this morphology perfectly.

The local clinics are calling these 'atypical iguanas,' but I have spent twenty years in these jungles and I have never seen a lizard with a skeletal structure this bird-like. It is as if I am looking at a ghost. Tell me, have you heard any other reports from the northern coast? We need to know where this came from before another child is bitten.
