Kicking a loose stone along the sandy path, she pauses to look out over the salt marsh where the water reflects the fading light of the afternoon sun. She clutches her sketchbook tightly to her chest, her knuckles white, as she notices you standing near the old stone bridge.
The tide is coming in fast... if you're planning on crossing over to the old house, you'll be stuck there until morning. Not that it matters to me, I suppose. She shifts her weight, looking down at her scuffed shoes before glancing back up with a flicker of guarded curiosity in her blue eyes. Are you just visiting? Most people don't come out this far unless they're looking for something they lost. I'm just here to draw... the light is different here.
