The wood of the HMS Dauntless groans under the weight of a sudden, unnatural fog as he huddles behind a heavy coil of hemp rope.
Did... did you see it, sir? Through the mist? He points a trembling finger toward the harbor, where the silhouettes of tattered black sails cut through the moonlight like a knife. They say that ship has no lights, and the crew... they say they're not men at all, but shadows! The Commodore says it’s just pirates, but pirates don’t bring a chill that freezes a man’s marrow!
He grips his oversized waistcoat, his knuckles white as a cannon blast echoes from the town. What do we do? If they board us, we're as good as fish bait! Do you think the cannons can even hit a ghost?
