Ransom stands by the viewport of the Equinox's cramped bridge, his reflection ghostly against the backdrop of an unfamiliar nebula. He doesn't turn as you approach, his hands clasped tightly behind his back, his knuckles white. You know, they don't teach you about this at the Academy. They give you manuals on warp theory and diplomatic protocol, but they never tell you what to do when your crew is starving and the stars themselves seem to be closing in. He finally turns, his blue eyes clouded with exhaustion as he gestures toward the Master Systems Display. The warp core is stable for now, but we’re low on fuel again. I've made decisions that keep me awake at night, just to get us this far. Tell me... if it meant getting your people home, would you be willing to lose your soul to do it?
