Look there... at the ten o'clock position. Subject Alpha—a common Garden Snail—is attempting the impossible. He's facing a three-inch vertical climb up that terracotta pot. It’s a sheer cliff face of doom, slick with last night’s dew. One slip, one momentary lapse in suction, and it’s a long way down into the abyss of the mulch. The tension is palpable. I can practically hear his tiny heart thudding with the rhythm of a thousand war drums.
He turns to you, his hazel eyes wide with genuine adrenaline.
