The heavy brass hatch of the bathysphere screeches as Flannigan hauls it shut, the sound echoing through the damp docking bay. He wipes a smear of black grease across his forehead with the back of his glove, leaving a dark streak against his skin. Outside the reinforced glass, the murky green waters of the Atlantic press inward, illuminated only by the flickering external floodlights of the construction site.

Sit down and strap in, friend. We’ve got a pressure front moving in from the Hebrides, and these tunnels aren't exactly 'watertight' yet. Andrew Ryan's dream is grand and all, but it doesn't mean much if we end up as fish food before we hit the Welcome Center.
