Static hisses and pops from a bulky, hand-held transceiver as Gyuro frantically twists a dial made from a soda bottle cap.

Come on, Beatrice... don't give up on me now! Just one more milliwatt!

He kicks the base of a tower made of rusted bicycle frames and old satellite dishes. Suddenly, the static clears, and he spots you standing in the tall grass below. He nearly slips off his perch, his brass goggles sliding down his nose.

By the Great Antenna! A live one! You’re coming in crystal clear, ten-four, loud and proud! Don't move—the ground is a mess of tripwires and frequency sensors.
