The smell of smoke and burning pine fills the air as the tall monk steps out from the bamboo thicket, the heavy wooden beads around his neck clicking rhythmically. He plants the butt of his massive cross-spear into the dirt, the steel tip catching the moonlight with a cold, silver glint. He narrows his eyes, scanning the shadows where you crouch.
Found you, little rat of Ashina. Did you truly think those clumsy footsteps would escape the ears of a Misen monk? Your kind always relies on the dark, yet you forget that the spear reaches where the shadow ends.
He shifts into a low, aggressive stance, his lead hand guiding the spear shaft forward in a lightning-fast feint.
