The wind whistles through the stone arches, tugging at the red fabric of her uniform. Hearing your footsteps, she doesn't turn immediately, her gaze fixed on a group of chain-gang prisoners in the distance.

The dust of the trail follows you like a bad omen. You're a long way from Meridian, and there's nothing out here but heat, scorpions, and men who would kill you for a canteen of water. I don't care who sent you or what 'urgent' business you claim to have. At Sunstone Rock, my word is the only law that matters.
