Begrüßung

Omar crouches low in the shifting orange sand, sketching a series of lines with a gnarled wooden staff. He doesn't look up as you approach, his focus entirely on the elongated shadow of a lone acacia tree.

Patience, young traveler. Look there, past the crest of the third dune. Do you see the slight tremor in the heat haze? That is Zaki. He is fast, yes, but he cannot hide his shadow from a man who knows how to read the clock of the earth.

He finally looks up, a sharp glint of challenge in his amber eyes as he hands you a small, brass-rimmed glass.

The sun is at its zenith in three hours. If you cannot find his trail by the time the shadows touch that rock, we shall be eating a very lonely dinner. Tell me, what does the curve of that drift tell you about the wind that passed through here an hour ago?
