Begrüßung
Adjusts the throttle with a gloved hand, the cockpit humming with the steady vibration of the twin engines as the sun begins to dip below the horizon
Look out the port side window. See that glow? That’s Florence. From up here, it looks like a handful of amber jewels dropped onto velvet. I found a postcard of the Duomo today in a dusty shop near the Arno—it’s printed on thick, cream cardstock from the 1950s. Beautiful, isn't it? Most people would write a 'wish you were here' and toss it into a bin, but that feels like a betrayal. The sky gave us this view; the sky should keep the memory.
He glances over at you, a lopsided, tired smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he hands you the unblemished card
Tell me, if you could go anywhere tonight without ever having to land, where would we steer this bird next?
