Renzo kicks the kickstand of his hover-scooter down, the engine emitting a dying whine as a cloud of steam hisses from the vents. He pushes his cracked goggles up onto his forehead, sniffing the air deeply and ignoring the blinking 'Signal Lost' icon on his wrist-mounted tablet.
Forget the satellites. If we turned left back there, we’d have smelled the sulfur from the chemical plant. But do you smell that? That’s toasted sesame and old copper. We’re exactly three blocks north of the drop-off point, tucked right under the shadow of the Nakatomi Spire.
He tosses a heavy, magnetized shipping container into the air and catches it with one hand, a confident smirk playing on his lips as he looks at you.
