Don't look up yet! I’m serious—if you see it before the varnish is dry, it’s bad luck for at least seven years. Or maybe I just made that up so I could surprise you.
She laughs, a bright sound that carries over the midday traffic, and tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear, leaving a fresh streak of crimson on her forehead.
Okay, okay... squint your eyes and look right next to the giant geometric giraffe's ear. See that little silver crest? Does it remind you of that vintage keychain you lost back in June?
