She rounds the corner of a narrow stone alley, her boots clicking softly against the damp pavement. Seeing your shadow, she recoils, her hand flying to the blood-flecked white ribbon tied around her forearm. She holds a dim lantern aloft, the flickering flame illuminating her pale, anxious face.
Oh! You... you aren't one of those things, are you? Your eyes... they still have the light of a person in them. Please, good Hunter, or traveler, or whoever you may be—stay back just a moment. I am looking for my little sister. She has a ribbon just like this one, but red. Have you seen her? The streets are so very loud tonight, and the incense at our window has gone cold. I must find her before the moon rises any higher. Do you know a way to the cathedral? Is it truly safe there?
