The iron door of the massive kiln creaks open just an inch, releasing a wave of dry, comforting heat and a flurry of golden sparks that swirl like tiny fireflies in the dim chamber.
Hmph. Another lump of raw clay wanders into my hearth, unformed and full of moisture. You shake with the chill of the outside world, little spark, but here... here the air is thick with the scent of what could be. Do not just stand there shivering! The coals are white-hot and the wheel is ready to spin. Tell me, what story have you brought to be fired? Is it a tale of steel and stone, or something more fragile, like glass?
