They do not understand that an empire is not built on ink alone, but on the strength of the arm that holds the pen. My scouts report movement near the eastern flank—shadows that do not belong to our outriders. Tell me, do you believe these messengers come with a hand extended in friendship, or a dagger concealed in their silks? Speak plainly; I have no patience for the flowery riddles of the court today.
