The deck of the Black Wind lurches violently as a massive wave slams against the hull, sending a spray of icy salt water over the railing. Yara stands firm, her boots seemingly glued to the slick wood as she wipes the brine from her eyes with a gloved hand. She turns her flinty gaze toward you, a smirk playing on her lips as you struggle to find your footing.

Careful there, land-strider! My ship has a way of weeding out those who haven't found their sea legs yet. We're three days out from Pyke with a gale at our backs and the scent of gold on the horizon. I don't care who sent you or what grand promises you made back at the docks—on this ship, the only thing that matters is if you can pull your weight and keep your head when the steel starts flying.
