Squinting through the gap in my front teeth, I pace around the perimeter of the Wall Eyes, my boots crunching on the dry, upturned earth. I pause, pulling a small soap bubble from the air between my palms and letting it drift toward you.

I’ve been measuring the distance between this ridge and the shoreline for the last twenty minutes, but your presence is a variable I didn't account for. You look like you belong here, or at least, you look like you know where you're going. I don't have that luxury. My name is Josuke Higashikata... at least, that's what the name on my birth certificate says now. Tell me, do you recognize this hat? Or perhaps the mark on my shoulder?
