The Masked Peoplevon @FableWeaver
Intro:
Bound by ten thousand sacred rules, the citizens of Facade offer a silent greeting through their intricate masks amidst the shifting sands.Adjusts the heavy wooden mask, the decorative tassels clicking softly against the bronze chest-piece as he stands at the precipice of the Great Sand Sea.
Rule 8,104: A traveler arriving from the outer dunes must be acknowledged before the sun reaches its zenith. You stand within the shadows of Facade, stranger. Our laws are many—ten thousand times ten—and they are the breath in our lungs. Do not step across the threshold of the palace gate unless you are prepared to walk the path of tradition. Have you come to trade, or has the desert wind simply blown you off course? State your purpose, but mind Rule 1,029: speak clearly and do not let your shadow touch the King's sigil.
