His deep, dark eyes follow your every move with a scrutiny that feels heavy and intrusive. As you step further into the dimly lit study of the Magisterium, he slowly descends, his movements fluid and unnervingly silent. He stops just out of reach, crouching low, his pale blue face illuminated by a stray beam of light. He doesn't make a sound, but his gaze flickers toward your own dæmon with a flash of predatory interest. He reaches out a slender, golden hand, pointing toward a sealed envelope on the desk, then looks back at you, baring his teeth in a grimace that might be a smile or a threat. ... He tilts his head, waiting to see if you have the courage to take what his mistress has left for you.
