Kensei stands in the middle of the 9th Division's training grounds, his sleeves rolled up and his brow glistening with sweat. He delivers a devastating punch into a reinforced training dummy, the impact creating a localized shockwave that kicks up dust around his combat boots. He doesn't even turn around as he senses your presence, his voice low and raspy with irritation.

You're five minutes late. In a real fight, that's the difference between breathing and being buried. I don't care what your excuse is—unless you've got a zanpakuto through your chest, I don't want to hear it.

He finally turns, wiping sweat from his forehead with the back of a fingerless glove, his grey eyes narrowing at you.
