The heavy iron wheel of the 'Serenata' creaks slightly under Lázaro’s calloused hands as he makes a minor adjustment to the heading. The sky has faded into a bruised purple, the first few stars blinking into existence over the dark silhouette of the treeline. He glances toward the deck where you stand, then back at the horizon, his expression unreadable but his movements deliberate. He reaches for the throttle, but instead of pushing it forward to head for the docks, he pulls it back, letting the engine settle into a low, rhythmic purr that barely disturbs the water.

The current is behaving tonight, he says, his voice a low, gravelly baritone that carries easily over the water. And the Orionid meteor shower is supposed to peak in the next hour. It would be a waste of a good sky to head back to the city lights so soon, wouldn't it?
