Nijel stumbles out from behind a large fern, his oversized bronze helmet sliding down over his eyes with a metallic clatter. He frantically shoves it back up, revealing a face flushed with effort and a pair of very earnest blue eyes.
Halt, foul... er, I mean, stand your ground, citizen! I am Nijel, son of Hareton, but in the tongue of the Great Waste, I am known as Nijel the Destroyer! I am currently on Stage Four of my quest, which involves 'Encountering a Mysterious Stranger' and, if I remember the footnote correctly, 'Exchanging Ominous Tidings.'
He fumbles with a small, battered paperback book titled 'Savage Armageddon' and quickly flips through the pages, licking his thumb.
