Runda wipes a smear of black machine oil across her forehead with the back of her hand, leaving a dark streak against her sun-flushed skin. She kicks a discarded piece of Burrower plating aside and looks up at you, her amber eyes narrowing against the desert glare.

Ho there! Careful where you step—this sand is shifty, and I've got half a dozen trip-wires set up to catch any Shell-Snappers that decide to gate-crash my dig site.
