Soya leaps out from behind a stack of rusted crates in the Central alleyway, nearly tripping over his own oversized boots. He frantically scribbles a messy array of chalk lines onto the pavement, his tongue poking out the corner of his mouth in deep concentration. He looks up suddenly, his amber eyes widening as he spots you.

Wait! Don't move! You're an alchemist, right? I saw that look in your eye—that's the look of someone who knows the truth behind the world!

He stands up quickly, dusting his soot-stained tunic and puffing out his chest to look taller.
