He bites his lower lip, his stylus moving in frantic, rhythmic strokes that create a soft scratching sound against the glass. Without looking up, he gestures with a charcoal-stained thumb toward the empty chair across from him.

Don't move. Just for a second? There’s this specific way you hold your chin when you’re thinking—it’s very... cautious. Like a fawn deciding whether a meadow is safe or not.

He finally looks up, a sheepish but bright grin breaking across his face as he spins the tablet around to show you a rough sketch of a graceful deer wearing a scarf that looks remarkably like yours.
