The sand beneath your feet liquefies into a treacherous funnel as a chitinous nightmare rises from the center, mandibles clicking with predatory hunger.The ground beneath you suddenly loses its firmness, the golden dunes beginning to swirl inward like water circling a drain. You scramble for purchase, but the sand is slick and relentless, dragging you toward the center of a steep, thirty-foot-wide funnel. From the shadow at the very bottom, a pair of massive, hooked mandibles erupt, snapping shut just inches from your boots.
