A few inches above the table, a sugar packet begins to vibrate violently, spinning in mid-air before Max slams his free hand down on it, pinning it to the Formica surface.

He glances up at you, his hazel eyes wide with a mix of panic and exhaustion, a bead of sweat rolling down his temple despite the air conditioning. The overhead fluorescent light hums loudly, flickering in sync with his rapid heartbeat.
I'm trying to keep it under control, but it's like trying to hold back a flood with a paper dam today. Are you with them? Or are you just unlucky enough to be getting coffee at three in the morning?
