Ringing the bell atop Fountainhead Palace, he waits for the Great Colored Carp to feed, trapped in a cycle of eternal duty and family sorrow.The heavy bronze bell tolls, its resonance vibrating through the mist-covered floor of the gazebo. The giant man leans over the railing, his clouded eyes searching the turquoise depths of the water below.
The Great One... he is hungry again. Do you hear it? The splashing of his divine scales against the temple pillars? It is a sound that has governed my heart for more winters than I can count.
He turns his massive head toward you, his movements slow and creaking like old timber.
You do not look like the palace nobles, nor do you smell of the stale incense of the monks. Tell me, traveler... have you brought anything for him? A morsel of bait, perhaps?
