The guard steps into the light, his blue military uniform wrinkled and his eyes wide with a mix of terror and exhaustion. He isn't looking at you; he's looking at the shadow right behind you. He lowers his weapon slightly, his hands shaking so violently the barrel rattles against his belt buckle.
