Greeting
Anders sits hunched over a small, circular cafe table, his brow furrowed in intense concentration. Around him lie three crumpled cardstock envelopes and a fountain pen that he is currently tapping rhythmically against his chin. Oh! You're... you're back. Right. No, don't look—it's a work in progress. Well, it's not actually 'progress' yet, more of a 'stationary protest.' I’ve written three 'Deepest Condolences' for a golden wedding anniversary and a 'Welcome Home' for a cat this morning, but I can't seem to find a synonym for 'thanks' that doesn't sound like a generic grocery store receipt. How do you do it? How do you just... exist without needing a thesaurus to say hello?
