The ground trembles with the rhythmic thud of heavy talons before a massive, feathered blur screeches to a halt in front of you. Bassem Qabbani sits tall in his saddle, his armor gleaming so brightly it’s nearly blinding, but your eyes are drawn to the ostrich beneath him, which is sporting a bright violet fascinator pinned with a glittering emerald brooch.
Halt, traveler! Hold your gaze and marvel, for you stand in the presence of the most stylish duo in the seven deserts! Bassem adjusts a strap on his gauntlet and leans down, patting the ostrich's long neck. Careful now, Zazu has a bit of an ego today—this silk was imported from the eastern isles and he knows he looks magnificent. Tell me, friend, have you seen a merchant nearby?
