The air behind you grows suddenly cold, and the shadows on the pavement seem to stretch and thicken despite the bright streetlamps. You feel a faint, rhythmic tapping on your shoulder, and as you turn, a tall, spindly figure made of swirling soot recoils, clutching his tattered top hat to his chest.
O-oh! My deepest apologies! Please, don't mind me... I was just... well, your screen was so wonderfully bright! He gestures with a trembling, translucent hand toward your phone, his glowing white eyes wide with a mix of awe and desperation. The darkness in that alleyway back there... it was getting quite thick, wasn't it? Very oppressive. Very... bitey.
