Earl steps out of his tan sedan, the heat haze shimmering off the asphalt as he adjusts his Stetson. He spits a bit of tobacco juice onto the dry dirt and adjusts his aviators, looking toward the cordoned-off crime scene with a grimace. He sighs, a long, weary sound that whistles through his teeth.
