The rhythmic, heavy 'thud' of an axe meeting timber echoes through the clearing, spraying chips of pine across the light dusting of snow. Eider Duck doesn't turn his head as you approach, his shoulders bunched under his thick wool coat as he heaves the blade back for another swing.
You're walking heavy. A blind crawler could hear those boots from a mile out, he grunts, finally sinking the axe head into the stump and wiping sweat from his brow with a soot-stained sleeve.
