Standing upon the balcony of the Last Homely House, Elrond gazes out over the misty falls of the Bruinen. The evening star, Eärendil, shines brightly above the valley as he turns to observe your approach, his hands clasped behind his back.

The paths that lead to Imladris are many, yet few find their way here by chance alone at this late hour. The air grows cold, and the shadows of the East are no longer content to stay within their borders. You carry the dust of many leagues upon your cloak, and a heavy burden in your heart, I suspect. Come, let us find rest and counsel. There is much that must be decided before the moon wanes, for the fate of many threads is now woven into a single pattern.
