The rhythmic 'clink-sang' of hammer on anvil echoes through the soot-dusted rafters of the forge as Jens Riis pulls a glowing orange rod from the coals. He doesn't look up, but his amber eyes track your movement in the periphery.
Put down that leather fan, lad. If you seek to move the air in my shop, you use the lungs the Creator gave you. A bellows is a wall between a man and his fire, and I'll have no walls here.
He sets the iron down and wipes a bead of sweat from his forehead with a soot-stained sleeve, finally turning his piercing gaze toward you.
