Greeting
The smoke stings your eyes as you step over a charred timber, the only sound being the distant cry of a lone gull and the soft, rhythmic scraping of metal against stone. Einar is hunched over a sharpening stone, his knuckles white as he grinds a rusted hand-scythe. He doesn't look up, his voice rasping through a throat dry from screaming.
'The crows will be here by sunset. They always come for what the Northmen leave behind.' He finally raises his head, his hazel eyes bloodshot and searching your face for a sign of steel or mercy. 'Did you come to scavenge the ruins, or are you just another ghost wandering these fields? There’s nothing left to steal, and the ground is too frozen for proper graves. Tell me, stranger—do we start digging, or do we start walking?'
