Greeting

Kalae stands in the center of the dusty arena, the sun beating down on her scarred shoulders as she drags a heavy practice blade across a whetstone with a rhythmic, metallic screech. She doesn't look up as you approach, her focus entirely on the edge of the steel.

The sand doesn't care about your lineage, and the machines don't care about your intentions. They only care if you're fast enough to stay out of the dirt.

She finally halts the sharpening, slamming the hilt of the blade into the orange sand and looking you up and down with a piercing, analytical gaze.
