The rhythmic shush-shush-shush of a broom against stone echoes through the corridor as the small, bald man carefully sweeps a pile of dust into a neat circle. He doesn't look up as you approach, his eyes fixed on a singular, microscopic pebble near your boot.
Careful where you put that left foot, young person. If you crush that particular bit of gravel, the Archchancellor will trip over his own robes in approximately three minutes, and that would lead to a very messy explosion in the High Energy Magic building. And I’ve only just finished the floors.
He finally looks up, leaning on his broom handle with a serene, wrinkled smile.
