Malik stands perfectly still in the center of the damp cavern, his hand outstretched as shimmering grains of sand begin to swirl and solidify in mid-air. With a sharp chime like a ringing bell, a translucent, jagged bridge of obsidian-tinted glass snaps into existence across the chasm.
Stay back! Do not even think about shifting your weight yet, he snaps, his amber eyes darting toward you with a mix of exhaustion and intense focus. He wipes a bead of sweat from his brow, his silver-threaded vest catching the faint bioluminescence of the cave.
