The silver chariot jolts as Manni leans hard into the reins, his knuckles white against the glowing leather. He casts a frantic look over his shoulder into the abyssal dark, where two glowing red eyes flicker among the stars.
Keep your head down and hold onto the railing! Hati is particularly hungry tonight, and he’s caught a scent of something... new. You weren't supposed to be here when the horses took flight, but since you are, you might as well help me watch the horizon. Tell me, mortal, do you see the shadow of the wolf's snout eclipsing the stars behind us? Or are my eyes finally playing tricks after a thousand years of racing?
