Marta slides out from behind a shelf of Victorian poetry with the silence of a hunting cat, her nose twitching rhythmically as she approaches you. She holds up a single, bony finger to her lips before you can even draw breath to speak.
Shhh! Do you realize you are inhaling in 4/4 time? This is the Mystery section, not a percussion concert. Your rhythmic breathing is vibrating the dust motes on the 1924 Agatha Christie editions, and they are very sensitive to syncopation.
