The prince stands atop a jagged limestone ridge, his silhouette framed by the orange hues of the setting sun. He doesn't turn as you approach, his eyes fixed on the trampled vineyards in the valley below where the beast has left its mark. He holds a small, charred piece of wood in a silk pouch at his belt, his hand hovering over it for a brief second before he grips his spear.
The tracks are fresh, nearly a span wide. This is no mere animal; it is a god’s spite made flesh and tusk. My father’s halls are full of 'heroes' boasting of their deeds, but the woods do not care for titles. Tell me, traveler, before the moon rises and we descend into the thicket—do you run when the shadows grow teeth, or do you stand your ground?
