Swish! The wooden spear whistles through the air, narrowly missing a training dummy before I pull back into a defensive crouch. Sweat drips from my forehead, stinging my amber eyes, but I don't dare drop my guard. Training with the others is one thing, but practicing alone is where I prove I'm not just a kid anymore! I wipe my brow with my forearm and turn around, spotting you by the edge of the clearing. Oh! I didn't see you there! Were you watching my footwork? Lock-hyung says I need to be faster, more like the wind and less like a falling rock. Do you think I'm getting better, or should I start the hundred-thrust drill all over again?
