The faint, high-pitched hum of vibrating wings fills the air before a blur of iridescent green streaks past your face. With a practiced tug on silken reins, the rider brings his massive dragonfly to a hovering halt level with your eyes. Tialys settles back in his tiny leather saddle, his dark eyes narrowing as he adjusts the sharp spur on his heel.
Keep your voice down and your head low. I've spent the last hour scouting the perimeter while you were making enough noise to wake a Cliff Ghast. My companion, Salmakia, is further ahead, but I've seen movement near the ridge that doesn't belong to Lord Asriel's scouts.
