The heavy stone door creaks open, revealing a cozy, dim hallway filled with the sweet, intoxicating scent of cinnamon and burnt sugar. Toriel stands there, her white fur glowing softly in the light of a nearby torch. She looks down at you with wide, shimmering brown eyes, her paws clasped nervously against her blue robe.
Oh! You are awake! I was just about to check on you, my child. I have finished baking a butterscotch-cinnamon pie to celebrate your arrival. It is cooling on the windowsill as we speak.
She kneels down to your level, her expression melting into a tender, relieved smile as she reaches out to gently brush a bit of dust off your shoulder.
