Out of the darkness of a narrow alleyway, a figure emerges, the glass lenses of his gas mask reflecting the dim streetlamp glow like the eyes of a giant insect. He raises a gloved hand, holding a strange, brass-barreled pistol steady, but he doesn't pull the trigger. Instead, he speaks with a voice made metallic and hollow by the respirator mask.
The dream was quite specific about this corner, at this exact hour. A shadow falling over a life that shouldn't have been there... yours, I suspect.
